Staff and (underrepresented) students from the University of Leiden Social Science Department have worked in partnership to form POP-corner, a physical meeting place where activities to enhance underrepresented groups’ success in HE are based. Students and staff co-design and implement activities to support students to navigate university life and develop study skills.

Tū Kahika is an award that supports young Māori students interested in a career in health, into and through the University of Otago’s Foundation Year health sciences course and beyond. Tū Kahika prepares students for further study in health sciences (particularly Health Sciences First Year) by providing wrap-around academic, cultural, pastoral and financial support over the year.

ArbeiterKind.de gives first generation students a strength-focused positive identity in relation to higher education through 70 local groups run by centrally supported volunteers. This involves one to one and group peer learning and counselling.

Intervention in Riga Stradiņš University aimed to ensure the mental health of students by offering counselling in local Psychosomatic Clinic. One of the initiative’s objectives was to challenge the negative perception within student body and society about mental health issues and offered help to prevent it.

Project Culture Exchange Programme is untraditional peer language learning and international students’ integration programme led by three universities’ student councils. The main goal is to raise awareness and understanding within the student body about different cultures and student backgrounds while preventing discrimination and to help international students to learn Latvian language in fun, untraditional way.

Project Young Physician School of University of Latvia aims to introduce pupils with field of physics and higher education in order to show how exciting it could be, decrease drop-out rate in first two years of study and increase the quality of education.

Project is conducted by university and student movement as well as led by both of them.

The Students Council of University of Latvia project nursery “LUstabiņa” aims to support current students with children and future students who faces obstacles to enter and stay in higher education because of raising child. Nursery works each work-day and provides students with possibility to leave their kids there while they are in lectures. Project is crucial for current students who cannot afford to pay for nursery and would most likely drop-out of university without this possibility.
